Magnesium is a vital mineral for the prevention of heart disease, high blood pressure, insomnia, and a host of other problems. Nothing new there. But here’s something surprising. A new study shows that it also helps to protect your knees from arthritis.
Researchers from the University of North Carolina X-rayed the knees of 2,112 men and women. They found an amazing number of them, 36.7%, had X-ray evidence of osteoarthritis. Then they looked at how much magnesium they were getting in their diets. It turns out that those who were getting the least amount of magnesium were more than twice as likely to have arthritis in their knees.
