Just say no to drugs for headaches
Ask most Americans what the most effective treatment for a headache is, and you can guess their answer. They’ll tell you aspirin, Tylenol, or one of the other over-the-counter pain medications. But a new study says it’s not true — no matter what type of headache you have.
In this study, the researchers reviewed 31 randomized, controlled trials. They looked at how acupuncture works on all forms of headaches. They found that acupuncture treatment was superior to drugs in reducing the frequency and intensity of chronic headaches. And they found that actual acupuncture was superior to sham acupuncture (placebo). So, it’s not just needling. Proper placement of the needles is necessary to see results.
I strongly support acupuncture over any conventional chemical headache therapy. I had acupuncture training many years ago. So did my wife. And she still performs it with a lot of success. We’ve seen it work.
