Reduce your risk of cognitive
decline by 70%
I mentioned on Wednesday that Tai Chi is a great way to reduce stress and possibly prevent and even help cure diabetes. But there's a lot more benefit that this ancient personal art can deliver. New research suggests it might actually enhance cognitive ability.

Tai Chi, as you may know, is a practice that combines gentle low-impact movement, meditation, and rhythmic breathing. So researchers wanted to see if it can positively impact brain function. To do so, they assessed cognitive and functional performance of 389 older adults at risk for cognitive problems. They did the assessment at the beginning of the study and again over nine and 12 months.

Fifty-four percent of the Tai Chi group and 78% of the stretching and toning group (the control group) completed the study. The Tai Chi group showed a 70% decrease in the odds of developing dementia over a year. They also showed better cognitive functioning and less depression than the control group.

These results are amazing! Imagine if Big Pharma had some concoction to redact your risk of dementia by 78% over a year. Most seniors I know would bolt for it regardless of the cost or risk. Here, a costless and risk-free practice seems to offer a miracle.

I've mentioned Tai Chi repeatedly in these pages. Please look into it. It's offered and taught all over the place, so there's likely somewhere close by.
