How to avoid radiation and
use your cell phone
The health concerns of cell phones have been in the news a lot lately. More and more studies are showing the dangers the phones pose, as they emit microwave radiation right next to your brain. I’ve written about this several times, and mentioned an easy way to protect yourself – with a wired earphone. That keeps the phone itself away from my body, distancing me from the emissions. However, I recently discovered that while this is a great habit, the effectiveness is in large part determined by the kind of earpiece you have.
I have checked out my wired earpiece on several occasions with a Trifield meter. This is a very inexpensive device, which detects electric and magnetic fields. Holding my cell phone close to the meter and placing a call sent the needle screaming. However, when I placed the ear buds next to the meter, I saw no activity even with the phone transmitting. I thought I was safe. But I was missing something.
I learned about this problem while attending a local raw foods convention in the North Bay. I came across a booth with a Trifield meter testing headsets for people. Of course, there was a reason. They had a particular headset they thought was best. So, I offered my headset to test, knowing that it was negative in the past. Well, this time it wasn’t.
Naturopath Craig Sommers was the owner of the booth. He explained that he placed the call to 611, an automated repair and service line. There was a recorded message that talked to my cell phone. The voice activated the magnetic speakers in my ear buds setting off a local magnetic field. When I had tested it, I simply placed a call randomly to see if the earbud transmitted EMF. I didn’t wait for a voice to come back. So I missed a hidden problem.

My ear buds put out a magnetic field, but not the high intensity EMF of the cell phone antenna. However, the ear buds go RIGHT into my ear canal, exceptionally close to my brain and cranial nerves. I had not thought of this problem before I stared at it directly.
The headset Sommers markets is a vast improvement in headset technology. The manufacturer has moved the apparatus that generates sound so it’s about 4 inches from the ear bud. It converts the signals into audio, and carries it to your ears through a hollow tube, keeping the energy field at a distance from sensitive structures.
So, the next thing was to try it on sound and music. My new iPhone has music capability. I expected the sound quality to be significantly inferior to my original earpiece, since the audio was generated a few inches away. It wasn’t; the sound quality is superb.
If you carry a mobile phone and are concerned about safety, this earpiece is for you. Aside from the safety headsets afford in driving, as well as keeping the cell phone antenna away from your brain, this upgrade offers greater safety for your brain and ear structures.
