Toilet Paper

I received an email from a subscriber asking if the BPA (bisphenol A) molecule that is often found in toilet paper presents any dangers to women who need to stay away from estrogen.

It’s a great question. As you may know, most toilet paper contains BPA. She was concerned because bisphenol A has an estrogen effect on breast tissue, and she had a history of estrogen-sensitive breast cancer.

I told Mary that, of course, she should do everything she can to avoid BPA in all its forms, whether it's in toilet paper or in plastic containers.

But here's the problem.

BPA exposure is so common that complete avoidance is next to impossible.

So, here's what I recommend.

First, eat a low-carbohydrate, high-fiber, clean diet with minimal processed foods.

Second, stay in great cardiovascular condition and get plenty of rest.

Third, take these three supplements:

• One is my Super Immune QuickStart, take one scoop daily.

• Another is a high-quality fish oil, such as Carlson’s.

• The third one is DIM (diindolylmethane). DIM is the active substance in cruciferous vegetables and can offset the estrogenic effects of BPA. You can get DIM online and in health stores. Taking 250 mg per day will do the job.

If you follow these guidelines, you should be able to avoid any estrogenic effects of BPA. This is important for everyone, not just women.

Yours for better health,

Frank Shallenberger, MD
