This three-nutrient cocktail super-charges your muscles — and your energy

"Aging is h-e-double-toothpicks," said Robert, an 85-year-old man. It's harder to eat, harder to dress, and harder to do the things you love to do. Aging is difficult because our muscles lose energy and begin to deteriorate. The more muscle mass we have, the more energy we have and the easier it is to do normal, everyday things. In a study on rats, researchers measured the levels of L-carnitine in two sets of mice. One group was older and one was younger. It restored their levels of carnitine in their muscle cells. It also restored oxidative (oxygen burning) activity in the cells. And, the animals had reduced abdominal fat and improvement in muscle functions.
