The supplement combination that
can increase your risk of
kidney stones by 17%

There is no doubt that taking a vitamin D3 supplement will prevent and even correct osteoporosis. That's been proven. However, this is not true for calcium. Taking a calcium supplement is useless in this regard. But despite the overwhelming evidence that calcium supplements do not help make your bones stronger, many doctors continue to recommend that their patients take a combination of calcium and vitamin D3. Now a new study is showing yet another reason why adding that calcium in is not a good idea.

The authors of the study examined the overall results of 56 different randomized trials involving over 95,286 men and women. The age of men and women ranged from 18 to 107 years. Most of the trials included women older than 70 years. And the average length of the trials came to 4.4 years. They discovered two noteworthy findings.

First, taking a vitamin D3 supplement statistically reduced the chance of dying from any kind of cancer by 12%. Second, when researchers gave calcium along with the vitamin D, the risk of getting kidney stones increased by 17%.

So if you have been taking calcium along with your vitamin D and have kidney stones, now you know why. I have been reporting on the dangers of taking calcium supplements for over 20 years. You can read all the reasons on my website. The only people who should be taking calcium supplements are those with documented laboratory evidence of a deficiency. And calcium deficiency in this country is rare. Otherwise, they do no good and can be harmful. So make sure you're taking plenty of vitamin D, but keep your calcium intake to 500 mg per day.
