Another home test to determine
your real age
One of the most important things you can do for your body is to test it to see how well it's functioning. If it functions great, that's good. If it doesn't, then it's time to take action. On Wednesday, I told you about a fascinating test called the SRT (sitting rising test). The SRT is a simple test that you can do at home to assess your risk of dying.

This test is easy to do at home. And your score will show you how likely you are to die within six years. A perfect score is 10 out of 10. And for every point that you are below eight, your risk of dying over the next 6.3 years increases an amazing 21%. Today, I want to tell you of another simple test you can do at home to see how well you stack up. It's called the 30-second chair test.

If you didn't figure it out already, you need a chair to do this test. A good choice would be a dining table chair without arms. The test is pretty easy. Sit on the chair. Place each hand across your chest on the opposite shoulder. Keep your feet flat on the floor, your back straight, and your arms against your chest. Then rise to a full standing position and sit right back down. Repeat this as many times as you can for 30 seconds. Here are the average scores for various ages:

So if you are a 70-year-old man and you can do more than 14, you are scoring more like a man 10 years younger. I like that. On the other hand, if you can only score 8, your body is behaving like a man 15 years older and you have some work to do.
