Is this readily available
cream a woman’s Viagra?
Sexual pleasure is a tender topic. Many men and women find that as they get older, it is something that seems to fall by the wayside. Perhaps you are among that group. And if you are, and don’t mind, then there’s no problem. But what if you’re a woman who finds her sexual enjoyment waning, and you would like some help? There’s seems to be no end to the number of products to help men in this department. But what about women? Is there anything that works?

Well, I’ve got some good news for you. A new study says an all-natural product might help.

In 2010, researchers published a study that looked at more than 256 women between the ages of 21 and 65. All of them were complaining that they were not enjoying sexual intimacy. So for 16 weeks, half of them applied a topical herbal cream to the genitals just before sex. The other half had a placebo cream. Here’s what the researchers found.

For many of the women, the cream worked very well. In general it provided a significant increase in desire, arousal, and satisfaction. The only side effect was a mild-to-moderate genital burning sensation in 14.6% of the participants.

The cream they used is Zestra. It’s available over-the-counter at most drugstores and online. It contains a blend of borage seed oil, evening primrose oil, angelica extract, coleus forskholii extract, theobromine, and vitamins C and E. You can learn more about it at www.zestra.com.

Will it work for everyone? It’s not likely. Sexual enjoyment is a complex subject. There are psychological issues, hormonal issues, health issues, and marital issues. And let’s just face it. As we get older, we all change. The things that were once very important may not be all that important any more. So it seems natural that at some point in our lives sex is just not going to be the big deal it used to be. But for many this is not the case.

Many of my patients even as they get past 80 still have the desire and drive for sexual intimacy. In my experience there is nothing as effective as bio-identical hormone replacement in this regard. In fact, I believe that’s the first thing you should attend to. But for many, even hormonal replacement doesn’t get the job done completely. And it looks from this study that for many women, this unusual combination of herbs may be helpful.
