How to make fish oils even more effective against diabetes
Two weeks ago, I showed you how to prevent diabetes without losing weight. All you have to do is take plenty of fish oils. They can lower your cholesterol and triglycerides enough to prevent the disease. But did you know you can make fish oils work even better?
It's true. You just have to put all of the right treatments together. If your doctor has told you that you have metabolic syndrome, or if you're gaining weight around the midsection and you have a family history of diabetes, make this your game plan.
First, lose the weight. The best way to do this is to go on a high-monosaturated-fat diet, such as the one in Barry Sear's classic book, The Zone. Then make sure that you limit the number of calories you eat. Only eat when you really need to. Try to eat a little something every few hours instead of skipping meals.
A simple way to keep your muscles strong as you get older (and it isn't exercise)
This one step can strengthen aging muscles, boost your immune system, and even help you manage your weight.

Next, exercise regularly. Start off with just 10 minutes every other day and work up from there as you get in better shape. I recommend Al Sears' (no relation to Barry) book, Pace — The Twelve Minute Fitness Revolution, as a great way to get started.
Then be sure to get the proven advantages of taking fish oil supplements. I like the EPA/DHA formula from Nordic Naturals (www.nordicnaturals.com) called Ultimate Omega 500. Take two to three capsules per day. I also like the one included with Advanced Bionutritionals Healthy Resolve.
And, finally, have your doctor check your weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, and triglycerides. I guarantee you'll see them go down. And when you do, you'll have the great satisfaction of knowing that you have completely dodged the diabetes bullet.
If you're having trouble losing weight, I'll give you another secret to weight loss in next week's alert. Don't miss it.
