Can you tell how fast you're aging
by how many colds you get?
Infections attack us all the time. How your body handles those infections determines how sick they make you. If your immune system is strong, you'll fight off most of them. But when your immune system is weak, you get sick. Now researchers are learning the key to keeping your immune system strong - and it has to do with how fast you age.

Insulin’s Evil Twin

This overlooked hormone might be the real reason you still struggle with out-of-control blood sugar. But most doctors (even alternative doctors) ignore it completely.

As you may know, telomeres are the key to aging. Telomeres are the end segment of your chromosome. Some consider them a protective stabilizing end cap, like the cap on your shoelaces. When you're young, your telomeres are long. But as your cells divide, it shortens your telomeres. The more your cells divide, the more your body ages. So the key to keeping young is to keep your telomeres long.

But it's not just aging. This research connects telomeres with resistance to infection in healthy adults.

In this study, researchers measured white blood cell telomere length in 152 healthy adults aged 18-55. They quarantined the adults into single rooms and gave them intranasal drops containing a common cold virus. Then they monitored the groups for infection and the development of illness.

Infection and clinical illness rates were 69% and 22% respectively. The shorter each participant's telomeres, the greater their chance of infection. This was true even when they controlled for demographics, harboring pre-challenge immunity to the specific virus, contraceptive use, season, and body mass index.

Those with the longest telomeres had an infection rate that was about 30% less than those with the shortest telomeres.

So what causes telomeres to shorten? You can read all of the details on my website. But one thing we know shortens telomeres is marine oil. Fish oil is highly vulnerable to oxidative damage. Really anything that causes oxidative damage will shorten your telomeres. This could include processed meat and excess iron, both of which cause unbridled oxidative damage.

Superoxide dismutase, or SOD, is your body's premier enzyme for protecting against unwanted oxidative damage. Higher SOD keeps your telomeres longer. And, you might recall, that ozone therapy induces higher SOD. Ozone also happens to improve immune function and kill pathogens. It's a one-two punch.  Also, being sure your body is sufficient in B vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins, magnesium, and zinc may support healthier telomeres.

You can take ozone rectally (I recommend three times per week) using one of the reliable machines from Longevity Resources (877-543-3398). I've detailed how to do this on my website as well.

We now know that staying healthy and aging slowly go hand-in-hand. The better you fight infections, the slower you'll age. So take all the steps you can now to keep your telomeres healthy.
